The Program
Agriculture in the Classroom is a grassroots program coordinated nationwide by the United States Department of Agriculture and in Illinois by the Illinois Farm Bureau. These entities work to help students gain a greater awareness of the role of agriculture in the economy and society.
The goal of the Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) program is to help students better understand agriculture, so they can become educated consumers with the ability to make informed decisions about issues dealing with the agricultural industry.

Agriculture Education Partnership
AEP is an organization that was formed by multiple entities in Sangamon, Menard, and Logan counties, including the Menard County Farm Bureau, who saw the need for agriculture education. These entities joined efforts to hire an agriculture literacy coordinator to carry out the AITC programs and educate students in Sangamon, Menard, and Logan counties about agriculture. AEP now consists of a Board of Directors, one from each of the founding organizations as well as the Ag Literacy Coordinator to carry out educational programs and supply educators with agricultural learning materials.
